Our Reclaimed Oak Beams are beams that have been reclaimed from barns and other old structures. They start out having the original rough face which shows the original saw marks on the beams. Usually the saw marks are curved, referred to as "Circle Sawn". These beams are generally anywhere from 50 - 100 years old. They may have mortise pockets because they were joined with mortise and tennon joints. The Oak varies in color from a dark brown when fumed to a light brown.
We will process the beams by removing the nails and other hardware. Brushing the surface if they are going to be rough sawn or resawing the beams and then planing and sanding the beams to a smooth surface. The beams can then be finished or sold unfinished.
